Community Days

The Museum hosts Community Days several times a year with free admission from 10am-5pm and wide variety of family-friendly activities including art-making, storytelling, docent-led tours, music and dance performances, and more.
This has become a day we look forward to all year long.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Day
Martin Luther King Jr. Community Day is a celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Activities focus on community, peace, and the power of art and culture to support social change. View photos from past events.

Juneteenth Community Day
Presented in partnership with The Amistad Center for Art & Culture, Juneteenth Family Day commemorates June 19, 1865, when the enslaved in Galveston, Texas first learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation. Activities focus on the history of Juneteenth and its ongoing significance in the present day. View photos from past events.
