The Museum hosts Community Days several times a year with free admission from 10am-5pm and wide variety of family-friendly activities including art-making, storytelling, docent-led tours, music and dance performances, and more.This has become a day we look forward to all year long.

Juneteenth Community Day
Presented in partnership with The Amistad Center for Art & Culture, Juneteenth Family Day commemorates June 19, 1865, when the enslaved in Galveston, Texas first learned of their freedom, two and a half years after the enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation. Activities focus on the history of Juneteenth and its ongoing significance in the present day. View photos from past events.
